5th place with Livorno Marathon in last season's race

The last stop of a long season I had this year even the Livorno Marathon in the program. I had resolved to improve my PB of 2h23.18 and wanted to start with kilometer time just under 3.20.
But the plans should remain plans. I started in the top group, which started in about my goal pace. So I passed the 10 km mark in 32.40 and had 40 "ahead of the march route. In a tightening pace at km 11, I fell back and remained continuously in fifth place, on my own resources. I passed the HM, and 1h10.00 told me that if I would switch back to 3.26/km, still 2:22 to come. So beautiful slow down, I screwed my km-time requirements: 3.26, then 3.30, 3.35, 3.40. The 5th Place was never in danger (on the track with two turning points in the four rounds, I could very well controlled), stomach rumbled it more and more, so I was on the last 6 km with a time of just under 4:00 and satisfied.
conclusion: that the targeted time I did not get, from 26 races of the season was the Livorno Marathon one of two that has passed it (previously HM Verona in February, 1h09.00). I have also learned that I, despite good form, a marathon can shake off the cuff. 2009, I had my 10 weeks prepared specifically to the Reggio Emilia Marathon, this Year there were effective for 10 days. From the race, I am nevertheless disappointed, but happy that I kept (it is not easy to run 20 km with the motivation in the basement) - now I'm looking forward to three weeks off and then on the entry into training for 2011, hopefully with fresh forces.
